Venture into deepest Sicily; discover her through your lens!

ShootSicily

As your photography coach, I will take you to beguiling villages all over Southeast Sicily, where—off the beaten tourist trail—you will capture vibrant and arresting images that showcase your personal vision as well as the soul of Sicily. You'll develop new ways of thinking about light and composition and overcome any fear of photographing strangers.

Southeast Sicily is a fine location for photography—brimming with mystery, sumptuous architecture, shiny blue air, lemony walls, sepia-hued villages, and folks who love the camera. And everywhere laundry sails on the line.

Packages that include 5 days of private photo shoots, 6 nights at a fabulous B&B in Ragusa Ibla (next door to my house), and all transport by private car—including to and from the Catania airport—start at $2500. I will share my village life with you and customize your trip, adding or substituting a cooking class, wine tasting, chocolate tour, olive oil tour, etc. I can also make a Blurb book for you with your best shots. ShootSicily is for amateurs or budding pros with a basic knowledge of their camera and digital workflow.

Jann has studied photography at Santa Fe Photographic Workshops—the world's premier photography workshop. Her work is distinguished by a bold and sensitive approach to street photography. She has won many photography awards and her photos have appeared in international anthologies of fine-art photography such as Light (Santa Fe Photographic Workshops, 2011), Portraits and People (The Worldwide Photography Gala Awards, 2011), and Best of Photography 2011 and Best of Photography 2012 (Photographer's Forum) as well as in newspapers and magazines. Jann has photographed all over the world and now divides her time between Sicily and Santa Fe.

Thank you, Jann, for slowly explaining to me how the F stop and ISO settings work together in order to capture that perfect shot! You reviewed my images with me as we went along, and I was able to adjust my settings in order to vastly improve my photography skills! Walking down the narrow streets of several small towns in Sicily with nothing but my camera and you as my guide, was truly an enjoyable learning experience! - Jenny Raisanen
