The Scrubs Effect: What You Wear Shapes How You Care

In healthcare, every detail matters. From the precision of your charting to the comfort of your shoes, the choices you make before every shift set the tone for how you show up—for yourself and for your patients. But according to our newly launched “JAANUU Scrubs Effect Report,” one factor rises above the rest: what you wear.

The report, based on feedback from over 1,000 healthcare professionals nationwide, reveals a powerful truth: scrubs are far more than a uniform. They’re a daily driver of confidence, comfort, and connection, shaping not only how you feel, but how you perform.

The Ritual of Readiness

For nearly half of healthcare workers (49%), getting fully ready before each shift is an essential ritual—a way to prepare mentally and emotionally for the demands ahead. It’s more than a habit. It’s a mindset. And for most, that ritual starts with choosing scrubs they love.

In fact, 85% of respondents said selecting their scrubs is the most important step in their pre-shift routine, outranking hair styling, skincare, or even choosing shoes. Why? Because when your scrubs fit right, move with you, and make you feel confident, you walk into your shift grounded and ready to give your best.

And that extra effort pays off: 89% said they feel noticeably more self-assured on days they invest time in getting ready.

Confidence That’s Contagious

Confidence in healthcare doesn’t go unnoticed—it radiates. Nearly half (43%) of those who feel more “put together” at work say both patients and colleagues comment on their appearance. It’s a visible reflection of how they feel inside, and it sets a tone of trust and professionalism.

That confidence extends beyond appearances. A striking 82% of medical professionals said that when they feel confident in their scrubs, they provide better patient care. Confidence, it turns out, is contagious—inspiring patients, strengthening communication, and creating calmer, more positive interactions across the board.

Comfort, Fit & Function: The Essentials That Matter

Every healthcare professional knows the wrong scrubs can make a long shift feel even longer. Comfort isn’t just a preference—it’s a prerequisite for focus. In our survey, 90% of respondents ranked comfort as the number one factor in how they feel at work, followed by stretch and movement (73%) and fit (68%).

It’s no surprise then that nearly half (46%) admitted they’ve felt distracted or rushed at work due to uncomfortable medical uniforms. When your uniform restricts your movement or causes discomfort, it takes your attention away from what matters most: your patients.

But when scrubs get it right—when they feel soft yet structured, flexible yet professional—the impact is immediate. Healthcare professionals reported feeling more positive throughout their shifts (68%), less stressed or distracted (44%), and more focused on patient care (32%).

Elevating the Everyday

Our Scrubs Effect Report underscores a simple truth: what you wear shapes how you care. For 85% of respondents, scrubs they love directly improve their performance and mood on shift. And when healthcare professionals feel confident, comfortable, and seen, their ability to provide exceptional care only grows stronger.

That’s why at JAANUU, we don’t just design medical apparel—we design tools for better care. Every detail, from fabric to fit, is informed by the voices of those who wear them. Because the work you do every day is extraordinary, and your uniform should rise to meet it.

The takeaways are clear: when scrubs empower you to move freely, feel confident, and focus on your patients, everyone benefits. The right scrubs don’t just change how you look. They change how you feel, how you show up, and ultimately, how you care.
